Dedication of a New Fire Station

We have come here today to dedicate this new facility.  Dedications are recorded far back into antiquity–

- The Bible, in Numbers7:10, tells of the dedication of the altar of the Tabernacle;

-2 Chronicles 7:9 describes the dedication of the altar in Solomon’s Temple;

-Nehemiah 12:27 gives an account of a dedication of the rebuilt walls of Jerusalem

-The most thorough account of a dedication ceremony in the Bible is in 1 Kings 8, describing the events surrounding the dedication of Solomon’s Temple.

In these dedications, the buildings and the utensils are set apart for special use by God….

We come here today to dedicate this new building and all of its contents —, and to re-dedicate ourselves — firefighters/medics, staff, apparatus, and all the implements of our trade to the glory of God and to meeting the emergency needs of the people in our jurisdiction.

Let us pray:

Lord, we offer this new fire station, our lives, our skills and all the implements of our trade to Your Glory and to meet the emergency needs of the people of (name of your jurisdiction).

We are humbled that you have brought us together here today, that you allow us to be a part

of this team;  we offer little to you compared to what you have given us; but in your grace, you

accept our gifts and multiply our efforts, and for that we are grateful…..

We are so appreciative of all you bestow upon us— for this new fire station that many firefighter/emergency people will call home for many years to come—-  A place from which we can respond to the calls for help from our people—— a place where we can hone our skills and train to do better the job we are called upon to do—

Help us, O God, to use this facility, the implements of our trade and the skills and knowledge you have allowed us to acquire in away that will bring glory to Your Holy name and that will make the residents of this (jurisdiction) proud to be a part of (name of jurisdiction).

Walk with us through the fire, O Lord, protect every man and woman of this department as they give their whole-hearted devotion to the job to which they have been called.

We ask in Thy Holy Name.   Amen!
