    This is an advanced class developed by the Federation of Fire Chaplains to equip chaplains with the skills and sensitivity required to deliver death notifications with professionalism, care and compassion. Chaplains will explore procedures, emotional impact, and appropriate responses during difficult duty, ensuring they are fully prepared to support families and agencies alike.

    Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy is a two-day course designed as a “Survey of Fire Chaplaincy”. It is appropriate for new chaplains, experienced chaplains, and those who just want to learn what fire chaplaincy is all about. The course includes classes in Foundations of Chaplaincy, the Personhood of the Chaplain, Ministry to Firefighters, Ministry to People in Crisis, Beginning a Fire Chaplain Program, Managing Stress, Fire Department Funerals, Fire Chaplain Operations, and many others.

    $250 (includes FFC Basic Fire Chaplain Certificate & printed FFC Manual + USB)

    Instructor Mark Goodman is a veteran of the fire service with over 40 years’ experience as a Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Marshal, and Fire Service Instructor III. He currently serves Estero FD, South Trail FD, San Carlos Park FD and Lehigh Acres FD as Chaplain. He is also a Peer member of the Tri-County CISM Team. Mark is a Master Chaplain and Instructor III for the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

    I understand and agree that if I decide to cancel my registration for this course, I must notify FD Chaplain Services, Inc. seven (7) calendar days prior to the first day of class in order to receive a refund. If a refund is approved, an administrative fee of $35 will be charged. In the rare circumstance that FD Chaplain Services, Inc. must cancel a class, a full refund of tuition will be made.

    Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy

    This two-day course that includes 16 hours of course material designed to introduce the fire chaplain to ministry in the fire service. This class been recently revised. If you have not taken this class recently, you might consider retaking the class to enhance your skills with the latest and greatest in ministering to fire fighters, paramedics, and other first responders.

    Pastoral Crisis Intervention I

    The purpose of this course is to improve the ability of the participants to practice “Pastoral Crisis Intervention” (PCI). PCI may be thought of as the practice of psychological crisis intervention within a spiritual/religious context. The purpose is NOT to teach theology. This is an “entry-level” class. It is assumed that attendees have NOT had SAFER-R PFA training previously.
